Privacy Policy

Who we are

Modern Witness is a preaching companion for pastors, available on the web and as iOS and Android apps. This policy covers all of them. When we say “we” we mean the people who run Modern Witness; when we say “the service” we mean the website and apps.

What we collect

• Your account. When you sign up, or sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and, if your provider shares it, your name. We create an account identifier to tie your work to you.
• What you write. The manuscripts, notes, and wedding and funeral messages you build are saved to your account so you can return to them. This is your content, and it stays yours.
• Basic technical data. Like most websites, our hosting keeps standard server logs (for example, IP address and request time) to keep the service running and secure.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your location, contacts, browsing history, health or financial information, or advertising identifiers. We do not use third party trackers, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Practice recordings stay on your device. When you record yourself in preach mode, that audio is created and kept on your own device so you can listen back or download it. It is never uploaded to us.

How we use your information

We use what we collect only to provide the service, which means:

• signing you in and keeping your account secure,
• saving your manuscripts and syncing them across your devices,
• emailing your manuscript to your own address when you ask us to with the “Email me” button,
• sending you occasional service email related to your account, which you can opt out of.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make Modern Witness work, and only so they can perform that work for us:

• Supabase, which stores your account and manuscripts and handles sign-in.
• Vercel, which hosts and serves the website and app.
• Resend, which delivers the emails you request, such as your manuscript.
• Google and Apple, if you choose to sign in with them, which verify your identity for that sign-in.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the service.

How your data is protected

Your data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access is scoped so that you can only read and write your own manuscripts. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your writing safe and private.

Your choices and your rights

You can view and edit your manuscripts at any time inside the app. If you would like a copy of your data, or you want your account and everything in it permanently deleted, email us at support@modernwitness.com and we will take care of it. Deleting your account removes your manuscripts from our systems.

Children

Modern Witness is made for pastors and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will change the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will do our best to let you know. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
